N149A p/s for M149 - Pin 1 cut???
Author: Neil Thomason
Date: 02/28/2017
Hello,

I am experiencing intermittent buzzing with the above set up, as if ground is lifted somewhere. Inspection of the p/s shows Pin 1 of the output XLR cut off and not connected to the p/s PCB.

Can anyone tell me if this is standard? Seems odd.

Access to a schematic would be very helpful, with thanks.

Pin 1 of the XLR output connector should be connected to the power supply housing only, which also connects to pin 6 of the 8-pin DIN connector. A schematic block diagram could be supplied if I had an email address to send a copy to...

Hello Uwe,

I am booked to do a repair on an M149 this coming Monday (March 6th). The problem is also a loose cable connector. Could I also get a copy of the pin-out/schematic diagram from you? Also, do you have any preferences as to how to access the tightening mechanisms in the mic body (the usual is to remove the head basket, then the body shell, then the lower connector unit is exposed, but perhaps there is a more direct path).

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

I'll send you the block diagram with the pin designations as well.

Regarding access to the mic connector, I'm afraid you're correct: there is no easier way than to disassemble the mic from the top on down.

Best regards,

Hi again Uwe, I'm not sure if you forwarded the N149A schematic, but I do not appear to have received a copy. If it's at all possible I'd be very grateful, thank you.

Neil
