You're correct, pop filter and ring are one piece, and yours broke, during the fall. The ring has the additional function to hold the capsule+pcb assembly in place. So, when using the mic in the meantime (until you get the replacement spare part), you should just remove the remains of the pop filter, and leave the ring between head grille + housing.
