KMS 104/105

Hi there,

I'm considering buying either the KMS 104 or 105 but I have a few questions:

1. Is it true that the 104 (just the normal one, not the Plus version) is more suited to female vocals whereas the 105 is better for male vocals?

2. A friend of mine told me that I should avoid getting a mic with a supercardioid polar pattern (and therefore the 105) because I am a guitarist/vocalist and if I turn my head even slightly to look at the fretboard I will loose sound quality/volume. I was surprised at this because I thought there would be more margin for error than my friend made out. What is the truth, can a guitarist use this mic successfully? I play fairly mellow music including jazz and don't jump around.

3. Would the supercardioid pattern of the 105 restrict one's ability to pick up the sound of two backing vocalists positioned closely side by side singing into the one mic? (just in case that scenario did arise).

Your assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks,
