Hello,

the simple answer is: just try it out and listen if you head any relevant difference.

The more complicated answer could be: think about wavelengths in relation to size of implicated devices (mics, stands, tables, walls...), technical and room acoustics (absorption, reflection) of your specific room, directivity of sound sources, and so on.

And then forget about all that, and just make some great recordings.

Note: for the directivity of mics, have a look at the polar patterns. They don't change much, over the first 10s of degrees.
