Re: Difference NS 69i and NS 69k?

Erik, thanks for your contribution. I just happen to like the sound and pattern-switching posibilities of the SM69fet; I don't have the resources or the budget to compare it with a lot of other Neumanns. I have a matched pair of KM184's and I'm happy with them - they're quite bright (as is the SM69fet), but I like them for acoustic guitars and things like cymbals, hihats and other trebly percussion. I also own a KU81, an amazing mic, but that's an other story.

As I said, I'm not an experienced engineer and not very technical, so I'm not sure I can understand all you're saying, but, to get back to your preamp issue: the preamp I use with the SM69fet is a T.C. Electronics Gold Channel - I don't know any details about whether or how its phantom power is filtered or not. Maybe you could tell me.
You mention audiophile quality, so my guess would be that you operate in jazz or classical circles. I'm more of a pop/rock/folk/semi-acoustic man myself, a branch where audiophile criteria are often less of an issue I feel. Which doesn't mean I don't want the best out of my mic of course...
