Neumann Mic Design Philosophy
Author: Stephen Andrew Bright

It is my understanding that the traditional mic design philosophy at Neumann was for clear, accurate source capture, and any artifacts deviating from that were basically due to technology limitations at the time. Now, paradoxically, many of these former "color" artifacts are seen as positives, and several of the newer designs have incorporated them into the mics as a design feature (i.e., TLM67). My question is, which was the first Neumann mic which incorporated the design philosophy that deviated from the traditional goal of the most realistic and accurate capture. Thanks for any thoughts, Stephen
