Re: Problem with the TLM 103 D

Hello Kevin,

I have no direct clue on what could be wrong, but here are some notes:

1. to make a basic check of the powering: if you have a voltmeter, the mains plug-in unit should provide ~+12V DC for the connection kit. The connection should then send +10V DC phantom power to the mic (measuring Pin2 and Pin3 with respect to Pin1 = Ground).

2. the general behaviour of the mic should be: dim blue light as soon as mic <> connection kit <> mains power are plugged together; bright blue light after a few seconds, signalling "ready".
This should happen, irrespective of the SPDIF / signal connection. If it doesn't, and there isn't a connection fault somewhere, please contact the seller, or your national distributor, for checking.

3. did you buy the set new, or second hand, and, in which country are you based?
Note: with the connection kit, the TLM103D will work with "factory default settings". These could have been re-programmed by a prior user, with a DMI interface, e.g. to extinguish the LED etc.

4. length of the cable does not matter, as long as it's wired correctly.

5. at which sample rate is the TLM103D working, and does the MBox sync to this sample rate?

Best regards,
Martin Schneider / Neumann Mic. Development
