You have to differentiate which foam we are talking about.

The foam (covererd with red cloth) used in the 1960s / 1970s deteriorates and crumbles, and should then be eliminated in order to protect the capsule.

The high-quality, solid anthrazite/dark grey material we use in our cases since the 1990s is a completely different material; it does not crumble and is perfectly safe.
