Neumann KH 310 II

You asked for it. Here it is!

The Neumann KH 310 II - with more power, more headroom, an even flatter frequency response, a digital input and a full DSP engine, so you can calibrate the speaker perfectly to your room using Neumann's MA 1, Monitor Alignment System.

Neumann and its predecessor Klein & Hummel have been building loudspeakers since 1967  when they introduced the world's first active three-way studio monitor. Six decades of engineering experience went into the KH 310 II.

But some things don't need reinventing. The legendary 3-inch soft-dome midrange from the original KH 310 stays exactly as it was. Acclaimed worldwide for its tonality and precision, it remains the sonic heart of the new KH 310 II.
Paired with the 1-inch metal-dome tweeter and a carefully engineered waveguide, you get every detail without listening fatigue, a wide and accurate sweet spot, and minimal reflections from your desk or ceiling.
For best results, always place the KH 310 II horizontally, using a mirrored left and right pair.

Almost everything else has been re-engineered. A new woofer with higher linear excursion. All three amplifiers now deliver significantly more power, with a built-in limiter structure for full protection. The result: lower distortion across the entire system, five decibels more max SPL, improved linearity across the frequency spectrum, and the same sonic character at low and high volume. That's the kind of precision that makes mix decisions faster, and more reliable.

And the sealed cabinet design gives you the transient accuracy and tight, controlled bass that critical monitoring requires.

Besides the acoustic control switches for bass, low-mid, and treble, the KH 310 II runs on a full DSP platform with analog and digital inputs, and works seamlessly with Neumann's MA 1 automatic monitor alignment. Use the measurement mic, run the calibration, and MA 1 optimizes the KH 310 II perfectly for your room.

Add a Neumann network-enabled subwoofer for even more bass, or for surround and immersive setups.

Monitor Monday EP 5 - FAQs

The Neumann KH 310 II is a professional 3-way studio monitor designed for mixing, mastering, broadcast, and immersive audio production. It combines the proven acoustic design of the original KH 310 with integrated DSP, digital inputs, and support for Neumanns MA 1 room alignment.

The KH 310 II is designed for professional mixing, mastering, broadcast, post-production, and immersive audio applications. Its highly linear frequency response and exceptional midrange accuracy help to ensure that critical mix decisions translate reliable across rooms and playback systems.

Yes. The KH 310 II includes an onboard DSP engine and works seamlessly with Neumann MA 1, allowing you to calibrate your monitoring system to your room for more reliable mixing decisions.

The KH 310 II combines the trusted acoustic design of the original KH 310 with integrated DSP, MA 1 room alignment compatibility, a redesigned woofer, new Class-D amplification, digital AES3 connectivity, increased maximum SPL by 5 dB, lower distortion, and improved low-frequency extension down to 29 Hz.

Neumann KH 310 II: A New Benchmark for 3-Way Studio Monitors

The Trusted KH 310, Reimagined for Modern Studios

The original KH 310 has earned a reputation as one of the most trusted 3-way studio monitors in professional audio. Built on a loudspeaker heritage dating back to Klein + Hummel's pioneering work in active monitoring, it became known for its accurate midrange, controlled low end, and exceptional mix translation.

With the KH 310 II, Neumann has preserved the acoustic DNA engineers already trust while updating the platform for modern production environments. Rather than reinventing a classic, the goal was to refine and optimize it for today's workflows.

Built for Consistency with Neumann MA 1

Modern audio professionals rarely work in a single, perfectly tuned control room. Many moves between studios, production spaces, and immersive environments, making monitoring consistency more important than ever.
That's why the KH 310 II introduces integrated DSP and seamless compatibility with Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment. Together, they help compensate for room acoustics and create a more reliable listening experience.
MA 1

More Headroom, Less Distortion

The KH 310 II delivers significant technical improvements under the hood.
A redesigned 8¼-inch woofer and new Class-D amplification increase maximum SPL by up to 5 dB compared to the original model while reducing distortion at higher listening levels.

Key improvements include:

  • Up to 121.4 dB maximum SPL
  • Low-frequency extension down to 29 Hz
  • Improved linearity with a frequency response tolerance of ±0.6 dB
  • Lower distortion during demanding sessions
  • Digital AES3 connectivity for modern studio workflows
Positioned at the transition between nearfield and midfield monitoring, the KH 310 II offers the precision expected from nearfield systems while providing sufficient output for larger listening distances.

Why Neumann Still Believes in Sealed Cabinets

While many modern studio monitors rely on bass-reflex ports to extend low-frequency output, Neumann has deliberately maintained the KH 310 II's sealed enclosure design.
The reason is simple: precision.
A sealed cabinet helps deliver tight, controlled bass reproduction with fast transient response and excellent time accuracy. This allows engineers to hear low-frequency information more clearly and make mixing decisions that translate reliably outside the studio.
For many professionals, this controlled low-end character remains one of the defining strengths of the KH 310 Series.

The Midrange Driver That Didn't Need Improving

Perhaps the most telling detail about the KH 310 II is what Neumann chose not to change.
At the heart of the monitor remains the renowned 3-inch soft-dome midrange driver that has become synonymous with the KH 310 sound. Responsible for reproducing vocals, dialogue, guitars, pianos, and many of the frequencies where critical mix decisions happen, it remains one of the monitor's defining features.
Sometimes, the smartest engineering decision is knowing what to leave untouched!
