VAD is free to use when a Merging or Neumann interface is present on the same subnet and runs in PREMIUM mode.
A VAD license is only required for operation without Merging or Neumann interfaces.
The VAD STANDARD license unlocks 64 I/O at 44.1/ 48kHz.
The VAD PREMIUM license unlocks the full 128 I/O at ultra-high sampling rates.
VAD STANDARD supports a limited subset of all latencies supported by VAD PREMIUM (see features).
VAD Use Cases
VAD PREMIUM has been popular, for example, to connect a Dolby Atmos® renderer 128 channels of beds, objects and LTC, speaker outputs and rerenders to a 48kHz Dante ® network configured in AES67 mode, and is officially certified by Dolby.
VAD STANDARD is great for simpler tasks such as connecting a laptop to an AES67 network, for example next to a LAWO console for recording or playback up to 64 tracks.
Easy Setup
VAD main settings can be configured through a simple GUI in macOS system preferences. The required number of I/O, latency and sampling rate can be specified to optimize CPU activity.
Connections can then be made using a web GUI, to and from senders and receivers.
