Neumann Sound for Sennheiser Wireless Systems

The KK 105 A is a premium quality capsule head for Sennheiser Spectera and EW-D / EW-DX / Digital 6000/9000 handheld transmitters. Its precision manufactured condenser capsule offers transparent Neumann sound, combined with the freedom of wireless operation and all the virtues of a rugged stage microphone: excellent pop protection, enormous SPL capability, suppression of handling noise and high feedback resistance.

Studio Quality for Wireless Systems

The KK 105 A is the successor to Neumann’s acclaimed KK 205 capsule head for Sennheiser wireless systems. Among its improvements are a more elegant form factor and noticeably reduced handling noise.

The KK 105 A uses the same capsule technology as Neumann’s highly successful, award-winning KMS series of wired stage microphones. While most stage microphones use dynamic capsules, the KK 105 A is equipped with a true condenser studio microphones famous all over the world.

At the same time, the KK 105 A possesses the ruggedness required for stage use, thus refuting the myth that condenser microphones must be “fragile”. The KK 105 A can stand enormous sound pressure levels without clipping, and its tight, frequency-independent supercardioid pattern ensures high gain before feedback. The KK 105 A has a much smoother frequency response than dynamic microphones and an airy top-end. Compared to dynamic microphones, the Neumann KK 105 A offers a vastly superior transient response, resulting in a more immediate, more emotional vocal sound. In practical terms: effortless intelligibility, without the usual EQ boosts – which further improves feedback resistance.

The KK 105 A is optimized for close miking; a fixed low cut filter compensates for the proximity effect and ensures clear bass, even if the singer’s lips touch the microphone. The headgrille is made of hardened steel and features a highly effective internal pop screen which also keeps moisture away from the capsule, while controlling sibilance.

Applications

Neumann capsule heads in combination with Sennheiser wireless systems have already proven their outstanding sound quality and reliability on some of the largest stages of the world, including international TV events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest.
Compared to the KK 104 A (cardioid), the KK 105 A (supercardioid) offers better separation and increased rejection of unwanted sound from neighboring instruments, resulting in a very direct and intimate sound, even on crowded stages.
The KK 105 A is designed for vocals and speech on stage and in other feedback-prone environments. The KK 105 A is suited for in-ear monitoring as well as conventional monitoring systems.
