Next‑Level Precision for Critical Monitoring

The KH 310 II sets a new benchmark for three-way reference monitors, delivering exceptional midrange clarity, ultra-low distortion and increased SPL. Its DSP-controlled architecture offers superior accuracy and predictable translation for demanding nearfield environments as well as optional room correction via MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment.
The KH 310 II introduces the next era of precision to Neumann’s iconic three‑way monitor line. While maintaining the sonic character that made the original KH 310 a reference in countless studios, nearly every internal component has been redesigned to further improve real‑world performance. A new amplifier platform increases total power to 525 W. This enables cleaner output with even lower THD and 5 dB higher max SPL. Tighter component integration and production tolerances achieve ±0.6 dB linearity from 100 Hz to 10 kHz for razor sharp imaging.

At the heart of the KH 310 II is an DSP architecture that supports MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment, ensuring precise frequency and phase correction for consistent translation in any room. Analog and digital AES3id inputs (BNC) enable seamless integration with modern workflows, including Neumann’s new generation of KH subwoofers and monitor control solutions.
The closed-box design continues to deliver the tight, time‑accurate bass response that engineers rely on for trustworthy low‑end decisions. The legendary 3" soft‑dome midrange driver remains the benchmark for vocal definition and mid band intelligibility. Combined with lower distortion and more headroom, the KH 310 II allows for longer fatigue‑free sessions and faster decision‑making thanks to its increased transparency.
Fully compatible with previous KH 310 installations, the KH 310 II offers a future‑ready foundation for stereo and immersive setups, preserving Neumann’s tonal signature while delivering meaningful improvements in every key parameter.

Superior midrange transparency for fast and confident mix decisions.

The advanced DSP architecture delivers exceptional mid band clarity, enabling engineers to judge vocals, dialogue, and instruments with unmatched precision.

Consistent, ultra‑low distortion at all levels for fatigue‑free listening

Redesigned amplifiers and optimized DSP‑based processing minimize harmonic and intermodulation distortion, ensuring clear reproduction even at high levels and supporting longer, more focused sessions.

Closed‑box low‑frequency behaviour for time‑accurate, reliable mix translation

The sealed design provides exceptionally low group delay and tight transient response, giving engineers a trustworthy low end that translates consistently across all playback systems.

MA 1 ready for perfectly aligned stereo and multichannel setups

The integrated DSP platform enables precise MA 1 alignment, improving frequency and phase response in any room and ensuring consistent accuracy from stereo nearfields to complex immersive installations.

  • Re‑engineered 3‑way design with lower THD and higher SPL
  • Razor-sharp imaging due to extremely low tolerances (±0.6 dB)
  • DSP platform with MA 1 alignment and digital input
  • Closed‑box design for time‑accurate, low‑delay tight bass
  • ELFF woofer for low distortion at high excursion
  • Backward‑compatible form factor for KH 310 installations

KH 310 II - FAQs

The KH 310 II preserves the legendary KH 310 sound while improving nearly every measurable aspect of performance.
Key improvements include:

  • Integrated DSP platform with MA 1 compatibility and digital connectivity
  • +5 dB higher maximum SPL
  • Lower THD and IMD across the entire frequency range
  • More powerful Class D amplification (525 W vs. 290 W)
  • Improved frequency response linearity (±0.6 dB)
  • Enhanced directivity and imaging
  • Redesigned woofer with better high-excursion performance
  • Lower group delay for improved transient accuracy
  • Tighter production tolerances for better unit-to-unit consistency

The new woofer is the result of three years of development, delivering significantly better performance at high excursion and high SPL.

BNC provides the correct 75 Ω impedance for AES3, ensuring reliable signal transmission with a compact, robust connection. It also ensures seamless compatibility with Neumann KH subwoofers, which use BNC AES3id outputs.

The KH 310 II maintains the well-known Neumann sound signature and can be integrated into existing monitoring environments. For critical applications, Neumann recommends using matching models within the same monitoring system.

The KH 310 cabinet geometry was already highly optimized for neutral directivity, low diffraction, and accurate imaging. Maintaining the same form factor also allows the KH 310 II to be easily retrofitted into existing KH 310 installations.

The KH 310 II is designed for horizontal operation and can be placed flexibly in any professional or home studio setting. For the best stereo imaging, the loudspeakers should form an equilateral triangle with the listening position and be aimed towards the listener, with the acoustic axis at ear height whenever possible. Its sealed cabinet design also makes the KH 310 II less sensitive to placement near walls than comparable bass-reflex systems.

A sealed cabinet provides controlled low-frequency transient response, lower group delay, and more predictable bass reproduction in a wide range of room environments. This design supports the KH 310 II's goal of delivering highly accurate monitoring with excellent phase response and outstanding low-frequency precision, making it particularly suitable for critical mixing and mastering applications.

The KH 310 II is fully compatible with Neumann's KH line of subwoofers, including the KH 750 DSP, KH 805 II, KH 810 II and KH 870 II. It can be integrated into stereo, multichannel, and immersive monitoring systems, including Dolby Atmos® and other spatial audio formats.
